The Sonic Sphere

Curious Immersive had the pleasure of doing some consulting for the Sonic Sphere project at the Shed in NYC, where we designed and integrated a whopping 128 speaker channels of immersive audio into a floating concert hall. Audiences of up to 250 people at a time were enveloped in sound from above and below, with live performances and curated recordings playing over the course of a six week residency.

Polygon Stage at Wonderfruit Festival 2023

The Polygon stage at Wonderfruit festival was a surreal experience. It had an intimate nightclub feel with four on the floor dance grooves, but then sounds were also moving all around the crowd in 360 degrees. Each instrument had its own space to exist and then certain sounds also had movement around and even overhead. The crowds were consistently packed every night and ravers were awe-struck and marveling at the incredible light rig from Visual Systems.

On the technical side of things, mixing with L-Acoustics L-ISA processor was smooth and intuitive, and very much a creative process. And the sound system was incredibly powerful and punchy, with over 68 boxes of Kara II and 16 KS28 subs.
